IOTA/ME Members Participated to The Seventh Moscow Solar System Symposium

Starting from 2010, the Space Research Institute holds annual international symposium on Solar system exploration.
The Seventh Moscow international Solar System Symposium (7M-S3) was held from October 10 till 14, 2016. The president of IOTA/ME and two other members participated there. Mr. Atila Poro talked about Grazing Asteroid Occultation, and Mrs. Mojdeh Dalirsharami (and S. Ebadi Rad) talked about Martian evolution and habitability: From the planet formation to the Possibility of DNA and RNA synthesis on the planet Mars, and also Mrs. Parya Abouhamzeh presented a poster about studying Moon's edge with occultation methods.

Occultation of A 9th Magnitude Star by the Asteroid Eros

On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the small asteroid 433 Eros will eclipse a star (HIP 110246) along a path stretching from Europe to Asia. Part of that path crosses northern Iran north of Tehran and perhaps touching the south edge of the Caspian Sea at 20:41:40 UT. This converts to 01:11:40 am in Wednesday August 3. The path is a mere 15 km. The star is magnitude 8.68 and so there will be a 3.4 magnitude drop (as seen visually) for up to a short 1.8 seconds!!
